Clarinetist, Blake McGee received his bachelors of music at the University of Minnesota and his M.M. and D.M.A. in clarinet performance at the University of Oregon. Beginning in the fall of 2010, Blake will be professor of clarinet at the Universit of Wyoming, Laramie. Currently, he is professor of woodwind performance, music history, and ensembles at Southwestern Oregon Community College.

Active as a performer throughout the Pacific Northwest, Blake is performing as Principal Clarinet of the Vancouver Symphony for its 2009-2010 season and is Second Clarinet of the Portland Opera.  He can also be seen playing regularly with the Oregon Mozart Players, Eugene Symphony and Opera, and the Corvallis, Newport, and Rogue Valley symphonies, as well as many area chamber ensembles. As a soloist, he has performed with the University of Oregon Symphony and Wind Ensemble, as well as the Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, and was selected as a finalist in the International Clarinet Association’s solo competition.

Dr. McGee is a strong advocate of contemporary music and is regularly involved in commissions and world premier performances, both as a clarinetist and orchestra conductor.
